The Yaffie ring buying guide has been published multiple times and has stood the test of time, but that doesn't mean it cannot be improved upon. In response to feedback from subscribers and changes in the diamond and jewelry market, we have made several changes to the latest version.
The updated version now contains many more photographs and examples of diamond rings. We have updated most of the previous photographs of rings to reflect current styles and trends.
In addition to the photographs of diamond rings, we have also added numerous photos of unset diamonds. We showcase new cutting styles and provide more photos of diamond clarity to help buyers better understand the quality of diamonds they are purchasing. Overall, the updated guide is more colorful and visually appealing.
The chapter on diamond color has been expanded to include more information and photos on fancy color diamonds. Fancy colors have become increasingly popular and are more widely available now than they were in 1996, when the last version of the guide was published.
We have added new information and tables to the chapter on judging cut quality, providing buyers with even more guidance on how to assess the quality of the diamonds they are considering.
Our updated guide now includes photos and detection guidelines for synthetic moissanite, a new diamond imitation that was not mentioned in the previous version.
We have rewritten the section previously entitled "Fracture-Filled Diamonds" and renamed it "Diamond Treatments" to reflect current terminology and understanding in the industry.
To help buyers better understand the differences between gold and platinum, we have combined the chapters on these two metals and added new information and photos.
We have also added new sections on setting and ring styles, showcasing the latest trends and designs.
Finally, we have added more chapters to explain why the 4 C's (carat weight, cut, color, and clarity) are not sufficient for pricing diamonds. Buyers must also consider transparency and treatment status, and shape and cut quality should be evaluated as separate factors. By presenting these factors separately, buyers can better understand how they affect the price of a diamond.
Our goal with the Yaffie Ring Buying Guide is to help buyers select a ring that will bring them pleasure and joy for a lifetime. Buying a diamond ring is a special event, and we want to make sure that buyers are equipped with the knowledge and tools they need to make smart choices and turn this experience into a positive one. With the updated guide, we hope to continue helping buyers make informed decisions when purchasing a diamond engagement ring.
